Büyücüler ve Şamanlar — Book Trailer

About the book and trailer

In James George Frazer’s Büyücüler ve Şamanlar, a vigil beside a forest lake opens an enquiry into practices different societies have held sacred. Magicians, shamans, sacred kings and seasonal rites become ways of considering how people make meaning under uncertainty. The relationships between magic, religion and knowledge are presented through Frazer’s historical perspective. This trailer offers a short visual encounter with that intellectual world. In trying to understand an earlier belief, might we also recognise the limits of our own viewpoint? The link leads to the Turkish-language edition.
