Silent Executioners
The Dark Legacy of Growing Up in Narcissistic Families
Looking at the childhood cost of what gets praised as maturity.
Written and prepared for publication by Mehmet Gökhan İnce
About the book
A child hears a door close and adjusts what they were about to say. Asking for little, apologising quickly and hiding distress can start to look like competence. Years later, praise for being strong or mature seldom includes a question about the needs sacrificed along the way. Silent Executioners turns towards that cost.
The child expected to make the family proud, the child blamed for everything and the child who learns to disappear have different experiences. Conditional affection, neglect, shame and adult responsibilities can each make personal boundaries difficult to recognise. The book considers these patterns without diagnosing parents from a distance.
Mehmet Gökhan İnce does not make childhood the sole explanation for adult difficulties. His attention rests on separating love from obedience, and responsibility from burdens never properly ours. Leaving an address and leaving its rules are different undertakings.
